ACCESS AND USE:

Open to researchers of family and area history, including St. Charles County. Materials do not circulate. Daily charge for access to archives ($2.50); hourly charge for research conducted by archives personnel ($8.00 per hr.).

  • Photocopying (.15 per copy)

GENERAL SCOPE AND CONTENTS:

Records of St. Charles County government (city and county), personal articles and recollections, deeds and records (early 1800s ), city directories, genealogical material, photographs, and maps. Holdings include:

  1. Circuit Court Records, (1809-1839); petition tobuild new courthouse, (1846)
  2. Lindenwood College records, (1876-1965)
  3. Deeds, (1798-1898); builders' liens, (1836-1897); inquests, (1849-1878); bounty payments, (1817-1818)
  4. Edna McElhiny Olson Collection, weekly historical news columnspublished over a 10-year period in the St. Charles Journal
  5. Probate records of St. Charles County-19th century; extensiveindexed cemetery records of St. Charles County.
