GENERAL SCOPE AND CONTENTS:

The records concern University City (chartered in 1906) and its founder,Edward G. Lewis, a businessman, publisher, artist, urban planner, andchampion of women's rights. Items pertaining to Lewis includecorrespondence; scrapbooks; photograph albums; over 1200 original8"X 10" photographs, (1903-1914); and University City Pottery,(ca. 1900- ), 30 examples of pottery plus papers relating to thehistory of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Items pertaining to thecity include scrapbooks, photographs, pamphlets, maps,blueprints, City Council minutes, Board of Education minutes, andnewspaper clippings.
