ASLAA Serves is a team that undertakes archival community service projects in the St. Louis region. Our goals are to provide archival and records structure assistance to small archives, to build work experience for students and new professionals, and to provide local archivists with volunteer opportunities. We have been active since 2016, and have planned and executed projects for the following institutions:

  • Missouri Aviation Historical Society

  • Hill Neighborhood Center

  • St. Louis Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center

  • Bellefontaine Cemetery

  • Carondelet Historical Society

  • Washington Park Cemetery

The projects are one-day events where volunteers conduct tasks such as surveying records, processing, and providing preservation assistance. In addition, we hope to pass on skills and knowledge to the repository’s volunteers so they can continue the work from that day.

If you know a repository that is interested in being a host site for an ASLAA Serves project, please contact Rena Schergen at renaschergen [at] archstl.org.
