From Acquisition to Access: Tools and workflows for preserving digital content

Multi day workshop:

September 8, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., CDT and September 22, 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., CDT

Presented by Carol Kussmann and Sara Ring.

We have archival standards, guidelines, and best practices that inform us about what we should be doing in terms of digital preservation at our organizations. But in practice, implementing digital preservation activities into actual processing workflows can be daunting. The presenters delve into the management activities of protecting and storing digital content, and will also demonstrate practical workflows and tools, from acquisition to access.

Topics covered will include:

  • Pre-ingest and tools and workflows for transferring digital content

  • Appraisal plans and tools

  • Processing workflows and tools for weeding, deleting, de-duping

  • Protecting and storing content

  • Working with technical and preservation metadata

  • Providing access to digital archives

  • Managing and assessing digital preservation programs

Location: via Zoom

Free to ASLAA members.
